We’re taught from a fairly young age to save for our future.
Which is good advice, we don’t want to be left with nothing and have to struggle in our later years. 

But what about ‘saving our body for our future’?

My sister and I were walking along the beach yesterday in an area well known for where the older generation live. Unfortunately we’ve come to expect that they will be hobbling and hunched over. But we also observed how many overweight and lopsided younger people there were limping along.

How has the world become like this?  

It really saddens my sister and I because she is a Pilates instructor and I am a wellness coach and all we want is for people to be healthy in all areas of their life but especially in the body. 

She wants people to have a healthy and flexible spine. “You are only as young as your spine is flexible”. I’ve heard this quote numerous times, from her and from my yoga instructors. 

I want people to be able to walk up stairs without being out of breath. To be free of anxiety and have absolute joy because they feel so healthy and not plagued with illness. 

It is possible. 

Lucky for my parents, they have both of us encouraging good health and pointing out foods that aren’t great for the body, and postures that will benefit them. With 2 Pilates sessions a week, a daily walk and lots of healthy foods they are doing well 🙂
They can live their later years feeling fit and healthy and can enjoy the money that they saved up for this time of their life. 

So I want to encourage you to save for your body’s future. 

What good is a whole pile of money when you can’t enjoy it properly? All you’re using it on is trying to fix what you could have prevented earlier in life. (of course there are some circumstances that are out of our control, but why not take control of what we can in the form of food and exercise)

How do we save for the future of our body?

  • Move your body daily. This can be yoga or Pilates which is resistance exercise to keep your bone density strong, 30 minute daily walks, hiking, cycling, running, dancing etc. Over doing exercise can have a reverse effect so listen to your body and don’t stress it out. 
  • Eat foods that work for your body. Reduce the junk and processed foods. There are so many healthy alternatives that taste wonderful. 
  • Drink plenty of filtered or spring water. 
  • Manage your stress. I can speak from experience that if you do not address what is stressing you out early on then you will suffer the longer it goes on. (I’m still getting my back to where it was before – just because of stress)

There are so many others ways to regain your health, these are just a few to get started.
